Little Diner @ Bukit Timah Road | Yi Xin's Birthday Dinner

Located alongside Bukit Timah Road, you can find this American-styled eatery with a rather plain and dusty grey exterior, but with a casual and laid-back setting inside.
The bus that I take to school everyday passes by this area, but I wasn't aware of this until YiXin told us about it. We had a simple celebration over dinner for her 20th birthday.

YiXin, if you're seeing this, hope that you had a great time over dinner with us and love the things that we have prepared for you! (:

Hanging on the walls are some chalkboards with Little Diner's 'Daily Specials' and desserts.

Effort was not spared in making customers feel happy! Look at the simple little details of the decor on the table. If you have made any reservations, there will be a customized name sign with a little welcome note on it. Each table also has tiny vases of fresh colorful flowers. But I had to move it away from Val!!! (Haha, we all know why)

Feisty Aglio Olio $19.5
Linguine, Garlic, Chili Flakes, Bacon & White Wine topped with Choice of White Clams OR Sautéed Tiger Prawns

The pasta had a great combination of spices and they were intricately balanced. However, the prawns were not any exceptionally splendid as it was a little hard. I was expecting the prawns to be more juicy. As the name says it all - feisty, the dish is more to the spicy side and is not suitable for those who cannot tolerate chilli. The spices had a sharp kick that lingers on with a nice aftertaste. Overall, I loved the dish except that the prawns are not that worth the price.

Beef Stew (It was not on the online menu)

I tried some of the mash potato with a little bit of the gravy. The potato was so luscious and creamy and had a slight addictive taste. The gravy had a strong flavour but I am personally not a fan of beef stew.

Version 2.0 Baked Mac & Cheese Royale! $20.5
The Rolls Royce of Mac & Cheese with Truffle Oil, Wild Enoki and Shimeji Mushrooms

Everyone had praises over this Mac & Cheese. I reckon it's due to the fragrance of the truffle oil. The entire dish had a rich cheesy taste that was bursting with flavours. I felt that it would be a good dish to share among 2-3 pax as one might get sick of eating too much cheese.

Midtown Burger $19.5
Handformed Beef Patty Topped with Caramelixzed Onions, Melted Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce & Tomato

Shrooms & Truffle Burger $22.5
Handformed Beef Patty Topped with Cabernet Braised Mushrooms & Truffle Aioli

I had a bite out of each patty, but I couldn't really tell a huge difference from just one bite. The beef was quite tender and it would be better if you order it - Medium or Medium rare. Anything above that would likely make the patty more dried and tough to chew on. The burger's patty was super thick and hence really filling. I had a steal for both of their fries as they couldn't finish eating them.

The fries were delicious and I love handcut fries, they taste really different from the frozen ones.

The food was really presentable and the portions were quite generous. The ambience was cosy and nice as well. My friends all loved that place and wants to go back for more, the only small problem I had was with the prawns. Maybe I have ordered the wrong dish as they told me that pastas were often not worth the price in restaurants.
