Movie Review | Big Hero 6 | Funniest and Cutest Scenes of Baymax

You know what's most attractive about Big Hero 6?

That bulging huge belly of Baymax and it's fat cuddly body like a marshmallow ball! So simple, yet you just cannot take your eyes off him during the movie.

And it's also probably the only reason why I wanted to watch this show. Who can resist such cuteness!

Big Hero 6 is not the 6th sequel of Big Hero, don't get confused!

It's a comedy-superhero movie that originates from a Marvel comic and produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Marvel + Disney? That's something new.

Synopsis:

Big Hero 6 is a film about a gifted and talented young boy named Hiro, who spends his life participating in robot fights as he felt that he already knew everything taught in school. When his elder brother Tadashi took him to visit his robotics lab at his university, he was amazed by the technology and students' projects, and he aspired to enter the school as well. Meanwhile, Hiro also meets Tadashi's friends GoGo, Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred as well as Baymax, a personal healthcare companion robot that Tadashi has created.

In order to get a place in school, Hiro has to showcase his inventions at the annual exhibition. Everything was successful, until an accident happened that changed everything. Hiro and his healthcare companion Baymax then embarks on a journey to search for an answer.

Movie Review:

The film is incorporated with several elements, packed with action and fighting scenes (loads of explosion, flying around, and Baymax's suit reminded me of Iron Man somehow), but there are also times when the story became very touching and inspirational. And how can a cartoon be complete without fun and comedy right?

My favourite parts of the movie include super cute actions of Baymax. What Baymax did was really nothing much, but Disney made these simple actions look amusing. You have to attribute part of the comedy to his chubby body parts.

Big Hero 6 is filled with twists, which I managed to guess one of them!

It's also one of the best cartoons that I have watched so far. Wreck-It Ralph was a really good cartoon show, I think this was even better! Well, of course I might be a little biased towards Baymax.

Ratings: 4.5 / 5

Funniest and Cutest Scenes of Baymax:

Like I've said, Baymax is super adorable right? Check out some of his quirky and funny moves. You can skip this section if you do not want too much spoilers (Although the actions have nothing much to do with the story plot!)

It's so funny how Hiro is trying to get Baymax to fight when he was made to be a health companion. And several moments when Baymax will voice out something like "I do not understand how ______ can make me a better health companion."

Baymax is so fat and chubby such that he is always stuck in small openings and narrow passages. But that is what makes him so cute.

If you have watched the trailer, you would have seen this already.

OWWWW-UCHHH.

Baymax looks like he is drunk when he has l-oo-www baaa-tt-eryy. He might not be so fat after air is released from his body, but definitely still so funny and cute.

Ooohh, and the fistbump. "Bada-lada-la!"

I tried to find another GIF image of Baymax running (He looks like he is tiptoe running). It's so hilarious, such a pity that I couldn't find the pic ): But please look out for it when you are watching the film.

On a side note, remember to stay for the end-credits scene! I totally missed that!!!

"Hello. I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion."

My Latest Addiction to Baking and Introduction to My New Mixer

If you have been following my Instagram @m0nice, you are probably aware of my addiction for baking. I think it's just something that I have become really passionate about over time. And during these few months, I have upgraded 2 mixers and also bought several new equipments.

The kitchen is gonna be full of my baking supplies.

On September, I got a new stand mixer because it was really tiring to use a hand mixer and whisk the batter continuously, and sometimes the batter becomes inconsistent as well.

But I realized that this wasn't very good as well and I sold it off at a lower price, and got a new one as my Christmas gift! Will be introducing that later on!

Meanwhile, I still continued to bake with this mixer. After all, it's still more convenient than a handheld one!

P.S. I'm still in the midst of practicing my baking skills, some of these cakes/ pastries are my first attempts, so please do not expect perfect results

Chocolate Pinata Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

This cake is baked specially for my bf for his birthday. Knowing that he likes basketball, chocolate and cream cheese, I decided to bake a 3-in-1 cake for him! In case you are wondering how to do a Pinata cake - which gives surprise candies/ chocolates when you cut the cake, you can refer to these photos.

Sorry for the lack of illustrations!

1) Bake a cake and slice the cake into 3 layers. Alternatively, you can bake 3 different portions, but I was lazy (This also explains why the cake wasn't very straight).

2) Stack one on top of another with cream cheese frosting spread in between.

3) Cut a hole for the bottom 2 layers, and fill it up with desired candies or chocolates, cover it with the top layer.

4) Finish frosting the cake and when you cut the cake open, TADAH!!! Loads of mini surprises inside the cake.

Bf had a lovely surprise when he cuts open the cake!!!

Strawberry Cheesecake Cups

I used fresh strawberries for the cheesecake mixture and decided to make two different portions - Strawberry and vanilla.

I guess bite-sized cheesecakes are also more fun and easy to eat.

Matcha Cheesecake Tart with Whipped Cream Frosting

I have been making normal-looking cheesecakes all these times (Cheesecake and digestive biscuits in a boring rectangular tin).

And after baking a huge fruit tart, I was inspired to make this Matcha cheesecake in the shape of a tart. Only difference is that the tart base is made of digestive biscuits and melted butter (Just like in most cheesecake recipes), rather than a shortbread crust.

Cross-section of the cheesecake.

Decided to play a little with dual colours again, and I made two flavours - Matcha and Vanilla to give the colour tone effect. Will be reducing the matcha powder on top of the cake though - it's really too bitter :/

Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Cream Rosette Frosting Topped with Fresh Strawberries

Each and every time I browse through cake photos and see rosette piping techniques on cakes, I always tell myself that I gotta try it some day. And so I did a turquoise ombre rosette cake topped with strawberries. (It's quite embarrassing, as I underestimated the ingredients and there wasn't enough frosting to frost the whole cake)

Still glad that it turned out looking decent, and the colours resembled the mint green instead of a light sky blue. Love it!

Only regret is that the buttercream wasn't as smooth as I wanted it to be.

Mille Crepe Cake

Cooking crepes are quite a tedious job as you would have to flip and turn over 20 pieces of crepe. And also to be extra careful not to torn the delicate piece apart.

I've always loved eating crepes but I never thought of making one myself! And maybe now I wouldn't have to be so desperate looking for a crepe stall anymore.

The crepe tasted quite sweet, just as I like. But I realized that it didn't have a very light texture and it was a little hard to cut the cake. (Maybe my worries of breaking the crepe apart were redundant after all)

I haven't quite figured out what was the problem yet though.

But I might remake it some day and top it with my favourite whip cream, chocolate sauce, strawberries and banana!

Mixed Fruit Tart

One of the more beautiful creations I have.

But I got to give credit to the colourful fruits, and maybe a little to my decorating skills? It's not perfect yet though. And my shaky hands broke the crust a little while I was removing it from the tin ):

Strawberries, blueberries, peach and kiwi are the most common fruits to fruit tarts and it really adds much colours to it! Especially because the colours are so contrasting to one another.

I haven't had any advanced plans to the decorating side, but I admit that it was the best part of baking fruit tarts. Such a long process though. Especially for the waiting time to cool everything, including the custard cream. For those who don't really fancy custard cream, you can consider cream cheese! I had an equal vote on both! I personally prefer the custard, but cream cheese works really well on the peach!

Banana Muffins with Chocolate Chips

It might be one of the easiest recipes to follow, given that there is no requirement of mixers, just mix the dry and wet ingredients separately, then fold the ingredients together, and be careful not to overmix.

But in fact, it's not easy to get the right texture and consistency as any over-mixing would ruin the muffins.

And say HELLO to my new KENWOOD Stand Mixer! Check out that beautiful machine there~ It looks so awesome! I was so ecstatic the moment it was delivered to my place. Guess what I love about it?

1) It has 6 turbo speeds, including a minimum speed (which means really super slow mixing to get the ingredients together), and in between every speed (e.g. 2-3), you can adjust the speed gradually. It's not like the rigid speed 1, speed 2 and so on.

2) There are 3 attachments included - K-beater, whisk and dough hook. Gone are those days where I have to depend on the 2 small whisks to whisk up my batter or cream.

3) It might seem insignificant to some, but the cover lid makes a huge difference to my baking experience. No more sugar or powder or cream "flying out" of the mixing bowl. Everything is now kept within the bowl and I can just pour in stuff from the small opening at the side.

4) And there's probably quite a few more benefits but these are the top few, and of course, great things are worth the money!

If you're interested, this is the KENWOOD Cher Premier KMC570. Be prepared to spend about $500+ if you are getting this.

Meringue Cookies

Whipping the egg whites are now much easier, faster and almost effortless. Only thing that I might want to be concern with is the time. I haven't quite got there yet, but it's a huge difference from what I usually get from the old mixers.

At least it looks so smooth, velvety and glossy. I just wasn't sure when to hit the stiff peaks. And I'm still practicing to get there.

Do you like the paddlepop rainbow colours of my meringues?

Angel Cake

Angel cake might be the name for this cake because of the less sinful ingredients - egg whites, sugar, vanilla extract and cake flour.

As you can see, there's no butter. No wonder it's called the Angel Cake haha.

The texture came out a little like bread, but my mum asked me to make this for her in the future as it's less fattening and therefore more healthy. If you're interested in making this cake, I think the key factor is the texture of the egg whites!

Rainbow Cupcakes with Lychee Buttercream Frosting

If you did take notice, I'm one who likes playing with different colours and decorations. Rainbow cake can be a rather tedious job, so I decided to start off with rainbow cupcakes instead. Turns out it's also quite tiring because I have to separate my batter into 5 bowls and add colouring to it. It's not easy to get the correct colour on first try, as it might be too light or too dark. And then you might worry over-mixing your batter.

It's not necessary to use piping bags, you can just a spoon, but the levelling might not be so nice.

This was my first attempt, I loved the pastel colours, but I decided to be a little more bold and I took on a second try. This time, I explored with more piping techniques for the frosting as well. Which are your favourite ones?

A pleasant surprise when you cut open the cupcake!

Hope you enjoy the little introduction to my bakes!

Top Favourite Childhood Cartoons

Cartoons used to be a huge part of my daily childhood. I still remember the times when I look forward to watching my favourite cartoon shows when it's time for lunch. And I wouldn't get bored watching the same few episodes over and over again.

Sadly, cartoons nowadays are not up to standard anymore. It might just be my personal view, but honestly, who watches cartoon cockroaches on the TV?

Anyway, here are some of the more popular cartoons that I have watched before! I hope you find this relatable! (In no specific order!)

1. Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice!
(PowerPuff Girls)

That's basically a full-proof recipe (With an extra ingredient of Chemical X) to create the perfect little powerpuff girls!

Small cute girls kicking asses. I love that.

Somehow they managed to make the cartoon so lively, interesting and with the cliché that "the good always wins over evil". Sounds like a perfect cartoon for a young child. Oh, and because Bubbles is really adorable too!

I think the cartoon partly attracts my attention because of the variety of villains. Every episode is filled with interesting storyline. Who's your favourite villain?

The slimy sickly Amoeba boys, arrogant and spoilt princess, evil monkey who constantly plans to take over the world with his machines or the evil Sedusa who disguises herself as a sexy mistress? (I think the name came from Medusa).

I think mine would be the infamous MOJO-JOJO! What an irony to give such a villain a cute name though.

So once again, the day is saved. Thanks to the... POWERPUFF GIRLS.

Never fails to end with that sentence haha. It's like a trademark phrase of the cartoon.

2. The Cat V.S Mouse. Who will win?
(Tom & Jerry)

Ask any kid, "Do you know what is the cartoon that has a cat and mouse?" I think almost 100% will tell you it's TOM AND JERRY!!!

In fact, I think it's quite popular among children even nowadays, I just noticed that Mcdonalds had it as their Happy Meal toys recently. Reminds me of my childhood. Ahh.. Those times sitting in front of the TV and laughing like no tomorrow. #Childhoodmemories

The cartoon show is not only simple, family-friendly but also sarcastic and funny in nature. I bet Jerry is the only mouse that could outsmart a cat and there are some scenes where Tom gets owned BIG TIME. But most of the time, I really pity Jerry.

The scenes just got even funnier when Jerry always threatens to get the attention of this bulldog called Spike. When you were watching Tom & Jerry, who were you rooting for?

3. Gotta Catch 'Em All
(Pokemon)

I think this might be one of the top favourites of all time! Not just popular in the 90s, but it is still loved by many Pokemon fans now. Even as a girl, I loved to watch Pokemon and I like Pikachu and Chikorita the most!! PIKA PIKA!!!

Pokemon is also my favourite DS game! Haha! Just that I will never make it to the end.

I cannot remember Pokemon names clearly so these are probably just few of those that I can recall, maybe plus a few more?

Charmander, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle.

I guess I like Pokemon partly because of all the really cute and adorable characters. I hardly like those that are so mighty and powerful.

And this scene is just so... expected for all the series. I can hear it ringing in my head already.

Team Rocket's Motto: (http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Team_Rocket's_Motto)
  • Jessie: Prepare for trouble!
  • James: Make it double!
  • Jessie: To protect the world with devastation!
  • James: To unite all people within our nation!
  • Jessie: To denounce the evil of truth and love!
  • James: To extend our reach to the stars above!
  • Jessie: Jessie!
  • James: James!
  • Jessie: Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!
  • James: Surrender now or prepare to fight!
  • Meowth: Meowth. That's right!

And that awesome feeling when you hear the "DING!" sound.

Team Rocket is blasting off again!!!

4. The Guy With the Teddy Bear
(Mr. Bean Animated Series)

Before the animated TV series came out, Mr. Bean was actually one of my favourite comedy shows! It's just amazing how he can make people laugh without uttering much words (Most of the time he is just mumbling to himself). I think it's his natural expression that did the job.

I love the animated series, but I love the original series even more! How about you?

And his Teddy is also the cutest thing in the cartoon show! I ever had a keychain like that before!

5. Who Lives In a Pineapple Under the Sea?
(SpongeBob SquarePants)

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!
Ready!!
SpongeBob SquarePants.. SpongeBob SquarePants.. SpongeBob SquarePants..
SpongeeeeBobbb... SquareeeeeePantssssss

Sorry I just had to do this. This song is just too.. Unforgettable. #earworm

This cartoon has too much ironies and weird stuff, but it's still so successful and enjoyed by many children, maybe even adults.

First, you have a sponge living in a pineapple, then a starfish living UNDER the rock, and there are many more contradicting things about SpongeBob. You can read this interesting post: http://cols-life.blogspot.sg/2014/07/spongebob-squarepants-logic.html

The cartoon has no meaning at most times, with the characters doing silly actions, and it's pretty amusing to see how Squidward constantly gets annoyed by SpongeBob. Plankton will always be that "villain" trying to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula.

I think as kids, you must be wondering how does the Krabby Patty really taste like!

Hey! I want that mini violin too!

6. Stupid Dog!!! Ooga Booga Booga!!!

AHHHHHH!!!!!

Sounds familiar? Sadistic people might love that scene of how Courage is scared by Eustace! My memory is pretty bad, I can only remember that scene very clearly. And perhaps there was this fox, and evil-looking duck?

I have always wondered in the past, how can a house just appear out of nowhere. It's as if they are just living in their own world with no one around them, maybe except some random evil villains trying to capture Muriel. In which Courage will always muster his courage to save her!

7. I'm Strong To The Finish 'Cause I Eats Me Spinach
(Popeyes The Sailor Man)

This might be a cartoon show that your parents will use to force you to finish your greens. HAHA! "Eat your spinach, it'll make you strong like Popeyes!" Well, not that I have actually experienced that.

But I have never realized even once when I was young, that it was just plain weird for the muscles to be grown on Popeye's forearm. I bet you didn't too. Was that an intentional mistake? Hahaha.

Poor Popeyes always get beaten up and bullied by Bluto who is always snatching Olive away. Each time I watch it, I just feel like, "Arghhhh why must Bluto be so mean, I hope he get his ass kicked!!!"

And a can of Spinach always saves the day! Can I have one too??

8. The Most Uncensored Cartoon Ever
(Crayon Shin Chan)

I think Shin Chan is probably one of the childhood cartoons with the most nudity.

I loved watching the cartoon when I was young. Hey! Not that I'm a pervert or anything like that okay! But it's still always hilarious to watch him draw an elephant on his *ahem*. Then he will drive his mum crazy and ends up with a big bump on his head.

I think the cartoon is not really meant for young children anyway.. Shin Chan is always caught blushing at hot babes and he will get all excited. But he's only a 5 years old kid!!! LIKE WHAT ON EARTH.
Oh! And I love his cute white fluffy pup called Xiao Bai. (I've watched all the Cantonese versions so I'm not too sure what are their Japanese names)

He is always crazy over his DONG GAN CHAO REN!!!! Which is this superhero-like character in this photo.

9. Scooby Dooby Doo, Where Are You~~~~
(Scooby Doo)

The theme song sounds very very familiar to me, not sure why too. It may not exactly be my favourite cartoon, but I definitely have quite a strong impression on this show. At least till now, the tune can still easily be recalled. Haha.

Scooby-doo is basically a mix of comedy, horror, and mystery. And if you were a kid who loved any of such genres, you might find yourself being stuck to this cartoon.

And you might find this hippie van familiar.. And all the "runaway" scenes hahahaha.

The gang will always end up solving the mystery, catching the monster and realizing that it's just a normal human behind all the scary encounters.

10. The Ghost Who Is Lonely and Wants Friends...
(Casper The Friendly Ghost)

Poor Casper is always going out to look for friends but sadly, he's scaring everyone away from him because he's a GHOST.

I watched most of the episodes that came out during that period of time. The story was light-hearted, and funny. Even as I click on YouTube clips to check it out while typing this blog post, it was nostalgic and I still find it enjoyable.

So... which are your favourite childhood cartoons?

Feel free to share in the comments below or let me know if you have some cartoons that you have enjoyed! (:
