Offensive Comments that Skinny Girls Get

How do you feel when people label you as skinny in a negative light?

Fat or skinny, no one likes to be judged.

I've compiled a short list of the most annoying comments that skinny girls get from people. Have you experienced it before?

1. You are so skinny

Saying a skinny person skinny is the same as walking up to a fat person and tell them in the face:

"You know what? You're so fat."

What may seem normal to you can easily fall into the list of offensive comments. If you don't intend to portray the comment as a compliment, I would suggest you to just keep quiet. Also, make sure that it doesn't come off as offensive if you really wanted to praise that person. Skinny is a far cry from slim. Use your words carefully.

2. You need to eat more

You might be gorging down plates of food for every meal or constantly bawling from hunger.

But whenever someone sees you as being skinny, the one first thing that comes to their mind is:

"Must be never eat enough."

While there are anorexic girls who are starving themselves in order to get into the body shape they desire, there are other girls out there who are constantly hungry and wanting food, but never gain weight at the right places. Sometimes the fats go to all the wrong places, like the stomach, giving the illusion that one is skinny. Angles, it's all about the angles.

3. Are you anorexic?

Just because a girl is skinny doesn't mean she is anorexic. Do you even know the definition of Anorexia?

It's an eating disorder by restricting food intake, usually caused by fear of weight gain or distorted perception of body shape.

It's honestly pretty dumb and insensitive to use the word "anorexic" loosely. Next time, if anyone shoots that question in your face, shove the dictionary into their face to shut them up.

4. Skinny people can run fast

Have you tried putting in effort in a long distance jog and when you somehow run faster than average, some will try to put you down (or joke) by saying:

"You so skinny, of course can run fast lah."

I understand where the logic is coming from - lightweight allows faster movement. I wouldn't deny that being skinny has its benefits of being able to sprint faster. But hey! You sure all skinny people can run? Running requires different skills, abilities and experience and there are many factors in play. It's just not fair to attribute a person's jogging ability to a person's body weight.

Not always true!
5. Your (inserts body part) can break easily

Some body parts like the wrist and arm might look fragile. You think bones are made of plastic or styrofoam? Just because there isn't any excess fats around a person's hands and legs DOESN'T mean that they can break that easily.

6. The wind can blow you away

So after cursing (or joking) that someone's arms and legs will break, you now hope that they will get blown away by the wind. Sorry to disappoint you, but that will never happen. Well, unless there is a tornado or hurricane.

7. Skinny people shouldn't complain

If girls can complain about their weight gain, why can't skinny girls have their fair share of rants? Since skinny people are judged, I think it is reasonable for them to feel insecure too.

If it's hard for fat girls to lose their pounds, then don't assume then it's easy for a skinny girl to gain some healthy fats. Skinny girls who complain don't necessarily mean to boast in an indirect way, it simply means that she is truly desperate about her body shape.

Remember that a simple and casual comment might seem harmless to yourself, but it may actually offend or hurt that person's feelings. Whether fat or skinny, everyone have their own insecurities. And it's not a very nice thing to poke fun. That being said, let's all be confident of our own bodies and at the same time, be sensitive enough to others.

Refuel Cafe @ Bedok Reservoir Road | Fluffy Soft Pancakes

I dropped by at Refuel Cafe with my brother last week to have lunch with him, and I was glad that the place is so accessible for me (since I stay around there). If you love To-gather Cafe for its affordable and decent food, you will probably enjoy it at Refuel Cafe too!

The Cafe theme is all about cars and petrol, as you can guess it from the name itself. Re-fuel.

You might want to re-fuel some energy with a quick fix of caffeine and delicious food before kickstarting on your school/ work stuff!

Refuel Cafe's Menu here! Do note that desserts won't be displayed at the counter. You can however check out the desserts menu at the cashier.

Featuring the Christmas themed design photo prints done by @Printiculous! Very thoughtful X'mas gift from them and it's designed by their in-house designer. It's just like the Polaroid photos but with cute designs! And you can print overdue or throwback photos.

Hazelnut Latte

The colour taste was not too bitter not acidic. But my brother felt that the hazelnut taste was too subtle. And it's a little on the pricey side.

Bacon BBQ Melts

For such an affordable cafe price, I couldn't ask for more. The BBQ melts was savoury and the crust had a nice crisp. But don't expect much from the bacon. It was a little tough and more on the crunchy texture.

Banana Pancakes

When I first sink my mouth into the pancakes, I'm like "omg it's so nice!" Not sure if I'm really overreacting but for this price, I think it's really good. I can taste the banana and the pancakes are soft and fluffy. However, the eggs were slightly disappointing as it didn't have much taste.

Media Invite: Panasonic Cooking Demo Class for X'mas Goodies

I blogged about the Bake Fest previously, but seems like I haven't got enough of baking yet. So I'm introducing to you baking addicts about Panasonic's Bread Maker (SD-P104). This would be suitable for either the bread lovers or people who just enjoy baking, like me!

Before you exit this page carrying the mindset that you're one who can neither cook nor bake, read this. The steps are absolutely fuss-free if you want to bake simple fresh loaves of bread for everyday consumption. You don't really need much cooking experience to bake because the bread maker will do everything for you.

ALL you need to do, is to measure the ingredients required and just dump everything into the compartments accordingly. Simple, isn't it?

I'll be sharing the recipes that I got from Panasonic below! Read on for more.

Fragrant Mixed Wheat Bread

  • 75g Whole Wheat Flour
  • 175g Bread Flour
  • 10g Butter
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 2tbsp Castor Sugar
  • 1tbsp Milk powder
  • 200ml Cold Water
  • 1tsp Instant Yeast
  • 30g Sunflower Seeds
  • 10g Melon seeds
  • 30g Raisins
  • 20g Black Sesame Seeds
  1. Place above ingredients (except mixed nut and yeast) in the bread pan.

  3. Select Menu no. 2 for "Rapid" mode, and select "Raisin" mode, next press start
  4. Once ready, remove bread from pan, leave to cool before cutting

See, the instructions look so easy and straightforward isn't it?

You don't have to worry about under-mixing or over-mixing the ingredients. Everything is done automatically in the bread maker. It's really convenient, don't you think? You can even set the timer ahead of time and prepare the ingredients just before you head to bed, and have yourself waking up to the aroma of bread in the morning.

Did you know that the bread that you bought outside is actually still considered unhealthy? Especially with all the preservatives added in, imagine how much you're gonna take into your body if you consume bread daily?

  7. Egg wash bun, top with desired ingredients and bake in a preheated oven at 200℃ for about 14-15minutes.

Some of the bloggers trying out how to roll the dough into mini round shapes.

This is my favourite bun of the day! Especially when it's piping hot just out of the oven, super delicious! I can't help but take a few more servings of this. The melted mozzarella cheese was a perfect addition to the bun.

Homemade buns but they look really delicious and taste even better than those sold outside.

Glutinous Rice Kueh (Muah Chee)

  • 250g Glutinous Rice Flour (Mixed with 375ml water)
  • 1tbsp Shallot Oil

  • 60g Fine Sugar
  • 150g Ground Peanut
  • Some roasted Sesame Seed (Blended)
  • (Mix above together only when ready to serve)

  3. In last 10 minutes, stir dough with wooden chopsticks
  4. Once ready, cut dough into bite size and coat with peanut mixture
  5. Serve.

Fresh Focaccia

For Bread:
  • 350g Bread Flour
  • 1tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1tbsp Castor Sugar
  • 1tbsp Milk Powder
  • 1 1/4tsp Salt
  • 225ml Cold Water
  • 1tsp Instant Yeast
For Toppings:
  • 200g Cherry Tomatoes
  • 2tbsp Olive Oil
  • Some Rosemary & Paprika
  • 80g Black Olives
  • Some Black Pepper
  • 140g Mozzarella Cheese (cut into 1cm cube)
  1. Place all the ingredients into the bread pan except yeast in the yeast dispenser
  2. Select menu 10 and press start. Display shows 45minutes
  3. Once ready, remove dough from the bread pan and knead it on a lightly flavoured surface until elastic and springs back when touched
  4. Divide dough into 2 portions, shape dough into a flat circle and place it onto baking paper
  5. Press the cherry tomatoes, black olives and mozzarella cheese into the dough
  6. Leave dough to rise at 40℃ for about 50minutes or till it doubles in size
  7. Brush the surface with olive oil, sprinkle with black pepper, rosemary and paprika
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 210℃ for about 16minutes

This reminds me of a Margherita Pizza! The crust is crunchy and the bread texture is soft inside. And I can't stop repeating how nice is the Mozzarella cheese. You should add it in ALL recipes (or most). Maybe I'll even throw in prawns, hams, and make lots of other varieties.

This Cooking Demo really changed my perception of baking homemade bread. I never knew it was this simple and easy. My mum was initially against getting a bread maker as she assumed that it would be very troublesome. But after knowing about all these, she was more open to the idea, especially because she's a very health-conscious person.

Imagine baking all these yummy bread, and bringing to school or work to impress your colleagues or friends!

Thank you and Panasonic for the invite! ☺

Beauty Review: For Beloved One Red Wine Antioxidant Night Jelly

Do you know that Red wine is proven to have heart-healthy benefits if taken moderately?

Because of its antioxidant ingredients, For Beloved One's Red Wine Night Jelly helps to improve overall skin condition to maintain flawless, youthful skin!

The concept of a "Red Wine Face Mask" was first introduced by Taiwanese actress and singer Barbie Hsu in her beauty book - "The Beauty Queen". As a top celebrity fan of FOR BELOVED ONE, she recommended many other beauty products that have since become popular and classic items for many brands today, including Whitening Bio-Cellulose Mask, being the top selling item of the brand for 10 years.

Here's her verdict:

"The effect of the mask gets better day after day, I realized that red wine masks increased my overall skin condition."

So you're wondering.. What are the benefits of FOR BELOVED ONE Red Wine Antioxidant Night Jelly?
  • Patented formula Lactobacillus Ferment - Brightens skin
  • Chronodyn (known as skin energizer) - Accelerates metabolism
  • Phytessence Kudzu - Protects collagen and elastin from being broken down and maintains of cell structure to keep the skin looking youthful
  • Vitis vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract - Strengthens skin immunity, creating radiant, youthful skin

The packaging is so pretty! And it looks like some strawberry jello pudding, in which I mentioned in my Instagram that I was pretty tempted to take a bite. The texture is bouncy and it glides across the skin upon application. Not the sticky type of texture in which I don't really fancy. Most facial masks come in light colours or white, so I was actually attracted to the wine red.

Since I've only tried on the mask for about a week with a few applications, the results aren't drastic. But I have no issues of any breakouts or irritation, which is the very first and basic requirement for me.

The product is very light and refreshing, leaving minimum sticky feeling behind as it absorbs into my skin quickly. I tried the mask on one side of my face to test the results, and I find that the part of my face where I applied the product, actually felt slightly more moisturized and hydrated. This is really essential especially when I am putting more make up than usual recently.

It's also a good way to brighten up your skin colour to make it look freshened and radiant-looking!

The FOR BELOVED ONE Antioxidant Night Jelly Mask is exclusively available at Sephora outlets for $78 per 50ml.
